Privacy Consultant

The Privacy / Protection Consultant will be predominantly responsible for providing consultancy services to Calligo clients regarding their compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) across the service lines within the Privacy Practice with an ability to deliver consultancy services primarily to Calligo clients and, on occasion, internally to Calligo.

The position will require activities from pre-sales through to servicing contracted clients and also development of the service lines.

Key skills would include an ability to perform privacy analysis of client’s environments, present findings and recommendations back to the client and to provide a point of thought leadership in the domain areas that are covered in the service lines.

Experience of the GDPR, other Data Privacy Regulations, standards frameworks, deployment models and detailed understanding of established good practice in relation to personal data protection are all attributes that will be encompassed in the role. Understanding of security frameworks is suggested as well as experience of reading and reviewing contractual documentation.

Job Title: Privacy / Protection Consultant

Key Duties

  • Analyse gaps that exist in the client’s environment or strategy regarding their compliance with the GDPR;
  • Provide best practise guidance to clients regarding how to comply with the GDPR;
  • Apply GDPR-mandated policies, procedures, and training materials, and help the client promote a culture of data protection compliance across business functions
  • Review client contractual documentation to ensure GDPR required clauses are included
  • Analyse, validate and document existing business processes and map data flows
  • Advise internal/external stakeholders around regulatory questions, risks and issues
  • Communicate with stakeholders and manage their expectations, working closely with internal and external parties, both local and remote
  • Analyse business requirements to ensure completeness of information and they are completely clear for the alignment teams.
  • Help maintain and revise policies and procedures for the general operation of an overall Privacy program
  • Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses
  • Evaluate business activities to assess compliance risk
  • Assess and audit information technology infrastructure, and information security practices


Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with industry practices and professional standards in Privacy, particularly in relation to the GDPR
  • 1-4 years of experience working in a Privacy role
  • Legal training or experience desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience with cross-cultural communications a plus
  • Ability to understand complex business issues and present them in a straightforward way
  • Agile and flexible, capable of dealing with ambiguity, and confront challenges and opportunities with speed, endurance and decisiveness
  • Quick learner, motivated to explore imaginative solutions, draw insights from experiences and seek perspective from others.
